UCLA
Bruin senior loses to USC's Maria Sanchez in three sets.
San Diego, Calif. - UCLA senior Yasmin Schnack came up just short in her quest to sweep titles at the Wilson/ITA Southwest Regionals at the Barnes Tennis Center on Monday, as she fell in three sets to USC's third-seeded Maria Sanchez in the singles final.
The second-seeded Schnack, who a day earlier captured the doubles title with partner Andrea Remynse, won the first set of Monday's championship match in a tiebreaker, however dropped the next two sets to eventually fall 6-7, 7-5, 6-4.
With the win, Sanchez earns a spot in the main draw of next month's ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in West Haven, Conn. By reaching at least the quarterfinals in San Diego, Schnack is eligible for a possible at-large singles selection to the tournament. She and Remynse will be in main draw of doubles due to their tournament win on Sunday.
